Сенсационное открытие сделали японские астрономы. Следы одной из старейших звезд обнаружены рядом с Млечным Путем. Ее остатки были вкраплены в тело другого звездного объекта в гало Млечного Пути.

Остатки небесного тела, которое располагалось в тысяче световых лет от Земли, были обнаружены в составе звезды популяции III при помощи телескопа Subaru. Объекту было присвоено имя SDSS J0018-0939.

Звезда имеет необычный химический состав, и именно благодаря сведениям о нем ученые могут узнать о факторах, которые привели к образованию небесного тела. По мнению ученых, возраст звезды может составлять около 13 миллиардов лет, в то время как Большой взрыв, после которого началось быстрое расширение Вселенной, произошел 13.8 миллиарда лет назад.
